My hair is fried from years of dyeing..?

Hi, I've been dying, bleach, using all DIFFERENT kinds of products on my hair for about 4 years now straight.

Now, it's competely fried.

It was so bad when I dyed it blonde that whent i went to my stylist to dye it a different shade the color wouldnt take, even after a toner.

So she had to dye it a pink, blue, and purple just so it would absourbe.

I've tried vo5 hot oil and deep conditoners... but my hair is breaking off which it has never done before and it's really corse and I can hardly brush it when it's wet.

Any ideas?

And no, not dying my hair is not one, right now, it's black, and I plan on keeping it that way for a while.

i agree with the lady who said do NOT use suave or dove shampoo in your hair that is actually what my hairdresser told me helps strip color out of your hair because it is so harsh. I like redken all soft it has something called heavy cream for a treatment i use smooth down butter treat myself because my hairy is naturally curly and frizzy it is the most awesome repair treatment my hair so thick coarse and curly that i use it once a week. I have always colored my hair the key is a good treatment on your hair the have deep treatments at a salon i go to in indiana and they are about fifteen bucks i know it sounds expensive (i was lucky enough to work there) but they are called redken chemistry sydtems and salons who use there products are bound to do the service it is actually used to prep your hair for color if it is severly damaged

Rinse it in olive oil then washit twice with a strong shampoo such as panteene.

First off, even though I know u jus said u stopped dying your hair, I jus wanted to point out, that included rinses and streaks, too. If u wanna get your hair back on the right track, confide in an excellent beautician to start caring for it every 2 weeks. Try to stay away from gels and water based products. Try using nice, smooth shampoos and conditioners such as Dove and Suave when you're washing your own hair. Stay away from heat such as flat irons, curlers, etc. Ask your hairdresser about heated rollers if you're into the curls. If not, just try to brush through it while you're washing it with a wig brush, should do a better job.

I've heard that Bumble and Bumble Deep treatment works well....but when I had fried hair I ended up getting the toner and still had to cut off a bunch of the ends that were all nasty.

oh my my...? pretty bad you've done to your hair... well, my only advice to you is to revitalize your hair using the VIRGIN COCONUT OIL (VCO). it contains rejuvenating enzymes and natural oil from coconuts(the "tree of life"). it is available in leading drugstores and beauty shops. next time LOVE your hair. okey... i just hope when you are done...i will have the chance to feel the silky hair you will have after VCO treatment. thank you

since you've only been doing this for 4 years and your hair is already fried i would lay off anything else that requires you to bleach your hair first...if you continue dying it in its present condition i promise you it will not get better but rather worse. if you still decide you are going to i would buy a wig and prepare myself for having to wear it

i have been doing my hair myself for over ten yrs.natural color dark brown w/auburn highlights..now bout 75% gray if i were to go natural.only 3 people have cut my hair in that time frame..all agree i have very strong healthy hair.i use only l'oreal for coloring..and i have gone the range from white blonde to ash to brunette to auburn.only real screw up was not really catching that burgundy was purple..washed twice a day for weeks and wore alot of ball caps.

iuse alot of suave stuff..mostly for colored and treated hair.may help that i dont use hair dryers,irons,etc. except now n then.

if you are up to it...cut it REAL short,so you start w/ new growth.concentrate on finding an affordable hair care line that will cover your needs...colored,bleached,oily or dry,fine or coarse and so on.

good luck..mine is past shoulder blades in back right now.im gonna cut for locks of love in spring...will have to go dark as they wont take bleached.and when i cut it will be boy cut short...

update 9/25...i see several people declaring suave to be bad..their reccomended products all appear to be the expensive ones mostly available in salons only ...i repeat..at least in my case these hair products work for me in my conditions.i have very healthy hair and suave is all i use..from shampoo to conditioner to mousse or gel.i am on set,limited income..yea redken,biolage and so on are great..but out of reach for me.as is seeing a stylist every 2-6 weeks.try getting a good professional cut and go from there.

people,plez realize some people cannot afford the more expensive things.suaves has been around for yrs..must be a reason why..and they carry products that are color treated friendly..a wide variety of products.

its not like the problem can get any worse from trying a less expensive option.

and if by some freak happenstance it does fall out...sue ..then you can afford some of the more expensive suggestions.

OK, Hun 1st of all... i read in one of the other answers use dove or suave.... please don't... they are so bad for your hair and they are not doing to help..... i don't know how long your hair is, but your need to get some of it cut off.... even if it is just a little it will kinda help..... do not color it anymore... at least for a while until your can get it back to somewhat of a healthy status.... never use a brush on wet hair... always comb it... and start from the bottom and work your way up the hair strand until you get to the root... it will help with the knots so your are not ripping your hair out of your head.... you can try sleek looks... it is a professional shampoo and conditioner.. it is kinda heavy, so it will weigh you hair down a little, but when you are washing and conditioning do not over use it.. it is very concentrated... only a quarter for shampoo and a little more than that for the conditioner... leave the conditioner in your hair after you wash it for the duration of the time that you are in the shower... it is like a mini conditioning treatment with the hot steam in the shower... b4 rinsing run your fingers through it to help get the knots out.. (you will find it easier with the conditioner still in it) .... hope this was a little help to you..

Try L'anza Reconstructor or Redken Heavy Cream -- both are available at salons only. Let it sit on your hair for at least 5 minutes to really condition your hair.

Also use a leave-in conditioner to help detangle and repair.

Don't use hot oil, it's not going to reconstruct, it will it will only lay on the surface of the hair shaft.
