What can I do with really really REALLY thick black hair?

I have super thick hair. Its hard to even put a brush through it. Its frizzy, and sometimes dry. And my hair curls up at the bottem, BUT I don't wana use a straigtener. Any hairstyles...tips to keep in managable...I (or so I think) have a very pointy nose. So I want to keep hairstyles that won't make my nose pointy. Any help will greatly be appriciated...

Have a hair dresser use the thinning shear on it...It works great for my very think and curly hair...Some hair dressers won't do it every time but I guess that just depends on how often you get it cut.

If you don't want to straighten your hair with a straightener then why not have it chemically straightened?

Also try some long layers...

You will be amazed how much lighter your hair will feel!

I have the same exact hair. I use a straitener but u don't want to do that so i suggest shapooing and conditioning. after that let your hair dry a little but not all the way dry it needs a little moisture. Then take a blow dryer and one of those round brushes and well brush it while the heat is on your hair. But make sure u are doing little by little hair or it won't work. Then your hair will be softer and straiter. this will take about 1-2 hours after that is u want a better hair style braid it into like 20-30 braids that will take about 30min-1hr. Good luck

moisturize moisturize moisturize... why do you think you can't do anything with it? it lacks moisture. And that's why most black hair is dry which is the main reason it breaks off. What's the purpose of wearing weave for a long period of time when you can't moisturize your hair? yeah I get it.. you can see the new growth but what happens when you take it out? you have A LOT of breakage. That's lack of moisture. so girl, wash your hair 2time a week and sit under the hair dryer with some nexus moisturizer (or cream of nature) and make sure you cover it with a plastic cap and basically sit under it for about 15 minutes. You'll c results within a month or so.

Since you don't want to use a straightener, you could try using a flat iron or a hot comb. It will be easier to find a flat iron over a hot comb. Try a beauty supply store for both. Also you could go to a salon and get it thinned out. And the hair stylist can give you tips on the up keep. For the frizzy and dryness you will have to use a hair grease in it. What I do, when I flat iron I take my time and grease each section as i flat iron. Then a few days later when it starts to feel dry again I grease my scalp again.

I have very thick corse brown hair and have been keeping it in check with product and a cut that frames the face along with layers.

The layers take the weight off and locks in the control.

As for the products I use Herbal Essence shampoo and conditioner for curly hair. Once the conditioner is in I pick it out. This makes it much more managable when styling.

Styling tip: Because both of our hair types are course use Garnie leave in conditioner for curly hair. I also use a spray they produce to add extra shine and lock in frizz. Finally I use their extra hold gel. As I am appling the gel I take my finger and loosely form ringlets. Softly blow dry with a diffusor.

I know it sounds like a lot, but I have it down pat now and am done in 5 minutes flat.

I hope this helps you I know that it took along time to get my mane tamed.

I had the same issue. Even when I had a perm. Yes you should keep plenty of moisture on the hair. BUT since you do not want to use chemicals to straighten the hair... get a ceramic flat iron and a blow dryer that has ION's in it. Both infuse moisture back into the hair. Regular irons rob the hair of moisture. I wouldn't recommend washing your hair more than once a week. Anything more than that, you're robbing the hair of even more moisture. I don't like Thinning the hair either. I tried it once years ago. It did the trick, but I had little broke pieces throughout my hair. You're trying to keep hair not lose it. If this seems too much for you, try scouting out a profession stylist.... Not Sheniqua doing it in her kitchen. Someone who is about more than just styling the hair and someone who will listen to you.
