Fashion a cap out of aluminum foil, something like a swimming cap, and sleep with it on. The foil against your hair will neutralize the static charge in your hair and the effects will last all day.

I suspect you are using a brush with synthetic bristles. They will build up a static charge in dry hair. Find yourself a good natural bristle brush with a wood handle. They are getting hard to find, but are well worth having.

Try using a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Only wash your hair every other day. Still get it wet on the no-shampoo days, and use a small amount of conditioner. Then there are products which protect your hair from the heat of drying and straightening. Some are designed to use when straightening your hair. Other leave-in conditioners can help tame static and fly-away hair, and can be used throughout the day. Avoid using anything with a high alcohol content, as that will dry out your hair, making it more susceptable to being stat-icky.

In a pinch you can put on some hand lotion, and smooth it through your hair to help calm things down.
