I'm 14,so cuz i have this butt-length hair (parents are indian) super-thick, mom drives me crazyy just because she keeps saying I'm supposed to look NEAT :-(((( ,so she makes me pull hair off face all the time,into one or 2 ponytails, or worst she put it in superr-tight 2 french braids !! and this whenever i step outside the house....she cant' stand to see my hair loose !! I HATE TO SEE HER COMING OVER WITH THAT BRUSH and ELASTIC BANDS !!!

Just kindly tell your mom that you want to wear your own way.

It is your hair, and you should be able to make it however you want.

i understand her wanting it to look neat because its really long and will be all over the place. but like convince her to let you cut some of it off. and then you will be able to add variety and have more hairstles instead of just 3. lol

My mom was the same way - Hispanic.... Well I cutt mine off and as I let it grow if she ever tried to get by me I would warn her that I would chop it off again.

Dood tell you over-protective-of-hair mom that you are 14 years old and its about time you style you hair the way you want to. If she gets mad, THREATEN TO REBEL AGAINST INDIAN-ISH WAYS OF LIFE! oooyeah. :]

wow your mom seems very very (wats the word) neat? umm you should talk to her. maybe try to work out a way you can get it cut or a new style that looks neat but works for you. try a messy bun or a shorter style, like breast length that way its still long but will look neater when its down. i hope she listens to you but talk to her like your an adult, talk reasonably and dont whine or beg. just try to work it out. tell her that your a teen and a young adult and want to talk on your own way of styling. try it, remain calm and it just might work.

DO NOT CUT YOUR HAIR ALL OFF OR MAKE HER MAD!!! that will ruin the trust forever. yes youll get a new style but she might find another way to give you a horrible hairstyle, mullet, mohak, ... bald, not good. just... talk and work it out

Cut it all off when she is not looking.No truthfully I have long butt- lenghth to except mine is blond I know were your coming from Its long,getts in the way,takes forever to wash %26amp; dry,And it makes you hot %26amp; sweaty.But I like my hair long"even if it is anoying at times" Mostly I hold it up with a big clip.But if you want it neat try putting it up in a bun.

As with most moms, she feels that how you look is a reflection back on her. If you look messy (in moms opinion) people will think that she is not being a good mom. I can relate to that, I feel the same way.

I do have to agree with her that you need to keep your long hair clean and brushed. Maybe you could convince mom to let you wear your hair long if you pull the sides back away from your face with some barrets. Or maybe you could do two braids in the front part of your hair and pull those back over your long, loose hair in the back and clip them back. I think what she does not want is your hair hanging in your face. Talk with mom and tell her you will try hard to keep your hair neat if she will let you wear it down. Good luck.

Maybe if you cut it shorter than you wont be able to put it up and wont have to worry about your mom. Long hair can look messy at times

i agree with Jen on this one. i have suffered and overcome a lot of hair disasters for a young girl. trust me, you need to learn how to style your own hair and tell your mom to buzz off. It won't b easy but it needs to b done. hope i helped. bye.

Don't cut it all off! Geez. Some people...ANYWAY, as an American Indian, my hair had to always be long and pulled back or combed so many darn time I was surprised I had any left! Try asking her if she could take you to a salon to get some layers put in. That will be a subtle change but it will give you a chance for some more styling options. Then maybe you could take a few inches off when you and Mom are ready!
